Photography in the South Downs National Park

This is quintessential English countryside without the crowds of more famous destinations: think rolling green meadows and forested hills; grand country houses and picturesque harbours.

Introduction

This holiday will take in the beauty of Britain's newest national park: the South Downs. It's the homeland of Jane Austen and, almost as famously, Frui's own Simon Tupper. Join him, James and Selwyn for a week of photography, painting, eating, drinking and exploration one of England's hidden gems. This new England-based creative getaway have been carefully designed to minimise the risk from coronavirus. See below for more information.

How Will We Make It Safe?

Of course, all travel comes with inherent risks and can never be guaranteed to be 100% safe. However, we've adapted these new holidays as follows to minimise the risks from Covid-19 as much as possible. We also plan to operate completely within the anticipated government restrictions at the time and should it turn out not to be possible to do this, we guarantee a full refund.

Stay within a safe group for the whole holiday. All guests and tutors will be asked to self- isolate or take a test for covid-19 before the trip, creating one safe 'household'. The holiday itself will be based from a rented house in the countryside. Everyone will have their own room, but some rooms may have shared bathrooms.

All transport provided by Frui. We'll be using a minivan for all journeys, so no need for any public transport. We can even collect guests based in London from their door, so no need for other transport to the holiday base.

Itinerary designed to minimise contact with people outside the group. We'll be visiting beautiful locations that you don't need to get close to other people to appreciate. As always, your tutors will be on hand to help you to capture the beauty on camera or canvas.

All catering done within the group. Food and drink will be taken care of by your tutors too, with a combination of delicious home cooked meals, BBQs, picnics and local takeaways. This means that even without pubs and restaurants, we'll still have the full Frui mealtime experience. And in the evenings we'll look at the photos and paintings from the day over a few drinks in the communal living areas.

Small refundable deposits and no payment until the last minute. Reserve a place safe in the knowledge that if anything changes and you can't make it, you'll get your money back. Payment will be required 2 weeks before the trip, on the 29th June. In the event that the holiday cannot run, for example because of a change in government restrictions, we guarantee you will be fully refunded.

What Makes This Trip Special?

Although easy to reach from London, this region is less well-known than some of the nation's other beauty spots. This means that the rolling landscapes have a real sense of peace and tranquility- perfect for getting away from it all and focussing on your creativity. Simon's local knowledge will take us to the secret spots and favourite places from his childhood during the day, and in the evenings our base in the heart of the Hampshire countryside will be the perfect place to safely relax and socialise, with delicious food cooked by Frui's multi-talented tutors!

Why Photograph Here?

The South Downs National Park provides plenty of variation in subject matter even if we can't visit indoor attractions, so you can put your existing skills to the test and try out new ones. As well as the signature rolling 'downland' landscapes, there's the old city streets of Winchester, the funfair and sparse empty beach at Hayling Island, and the huge cliffs of Seven Sisters. As with all Frui Holidays, an expert tutor will be there the whole time to give you guidance, inspiration, and curate a slideshow of the group's best images in the evenings.
