Each month we are asking our tutors to set you guys a photography brief based on something they are passionate about. This month it’s the turn of professional photographer and Frui tutor, Lucie Goodayle.
My tutor challenge will help you to think about the power that photography can have though visual storytelling. Telling a story with pictures is just like telling a story with words; something is seen, thought of, or imagined.
I want you to tell a story with 3 photos. This could be as simple as the story of your walk to work; was it dark when you left the house? Did you see anyone interesting on your way? What transport did you use? It can be realistic, it could be editorial it could even be abstract. Try to show something different in each image with use of camera angles, distance to the subject, exposure and so on.
We all know how easy it is to take hundreds of pictures, but the hard part is editing out the photos we like but aren’t essential to the story, so this challenge will also improve your editing selection skills.
Deadline for entries is 1 April. Please send your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org. I’ll pick my favourite and announce it in next month’s newsletter.
Looking forward to seeing your results!
