Photography in Oman

Think rolling sand dunes of open desert, long coastlines along the Persian Gulf, sumptuous souks and grand Mosques, busy fishing markets and dramatic mountains, and you get some idea of the flavour of Oman.

Introduction

Forget everything that you think you know amount the Arabian Peninsula. Here there are no glass skycrapers, instead you’ll find an incredibly culturally rich country, with an amazingly diverse landscape.        

This holiday takes in the best that the country has to offer. Flying into the port capital Muscat, we will visit the old waterfront Muttrah quarter, which boasts a labyrinth of souks and ample opportunities to capture photos of everyday life in this colourful town.

Later we will make our way up the North coast past Barka and Al Masnaah, seeing rich culture and wildlife, before cutting South across the mountains to visit some highland villages with dramatic views. We’ll explore the the empty quarter, the largest continuous sand desert in the world, and see turtles hatching on the beaches of the long coastlines of the Gulf.

Why photograph Here?

This trip offers some unique opportunities. We’ll spend some time in the open desert, to take some truly awe-inspiring and sublime shots in this remote part of the country. We'll also meet the Bedouins and takes photos of the stars at night.

We’ll get to swim in some stunning oases, before meeting the east coast with the enchanting towns of Tiwi and Dibab. We'll stay at a turtle sanctuary and watch turtles laying their eggs in the sand, before heading back to Muscat for our flight home.
