In the centre of this heart shaped piece of land you’ll find mountainous plateaux and medieval hilltop towns surrounded by lush vineyards and bountiful olive groves. While in the north Istria’s undulating peninsular, with its white calcareous hills, sweeps down to a turquoise coast. Istria is most beautiful in summer, as the vineyards and olive groves bare their fruits and the hilltop towns look spectacular as they rise up from a sea of green.
