After lunch in a local restaurant we visit the mud village of Al Hamra and visit a traditional house to learn about Omani customs.

On the way to tonight's hotel we drive through some more stunning and remote mountain villages, with a wealth of verdant garden terraces. Of course, there will be plenty of photo stops.

In the evening we reach Jabel Shams (meaning ‘mountain of the sun’), the highest mountain peak at 3009 metres.

Check into Jebel Shams resort for dinner and a drink around the fire by our lodge.

Day 3

Highlights include: Jabal Shams, the 'Grand Canyon of Arabia'

It's a fairly early start to capture the beautiful light and avoid the heat of midday as we set of for a hike through the spectacular Wadi Ghul, the 'Grand Canyon of Arabia'.

The middle of the day provides chance to relax in the lodge or take a swim in the pool. There's also an opportunity for one-to-one photography tutorials.

In the evening we head back to the canyon to capture the sunset over this amazing landscape.

Back to the resort for dinner and a look at the day's images.

Day 4

Highlights include: Nizwa goat market and fort, Wahiba Sands

Leave Jebel Sams early and head to Nizwa. Today it's the goat and cattle market at Nizwa souk, and we’ll be there armed with tips from the tutor for capturing the action.

After the market we can explore the rest of the souk practicing our street photography techniques, and visit the Nizwa fort.

Next we drive to where the road ends and try some thrilling sand dune driving in the Wahiba sea of sands, as we are met with the huge expanse of the desert.

We drive to 1000 Nights desert camp, and after checking into our 'tents' we'll head out to photograph the sunset.

After dinner we enjoy an evening under the star studded sky and a lesson on night photography.

Day 5

Highlights include: Wahiba, Bedouin visit, campfire in the dunes

For those who are keen we can get up early to photograph the sunrise from the dunes next to the camp.

In the evening we head away from the lights of the resort for a campfire in the dunes under the stars.

Overnight at 1000 Nights desert camp.

Day 6

Highlights include: Wadi Bani Khalid, Sur, turtle safari

This morning we drive to Wadi Bani Khalid. This stunning green oasis is a beautiful place for swim.

After a quick photography lesson we call in at the port town of Sur, famous for its Dhow (boat) building. Visit the boatyard and photograph the craftsmen at work.

After Sur, we proceed up the coast to arrive at Wadi Shab. Meaning ‘ravine between cliffs’, the sandy rock faces and turquoise waters are sure to make some great photographs.

In the evening we check into Ras Al Jinz turtle reserve.

Night time walk to the beach in the hope of seeing female turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs. (Please note photography is difficult here as the guide's torch is the only light allowed).

Day 7

Highlights include: Sunrise turtle safari and relaxing in Muscat

Head back to the beach before sunrise. If we're lucky we'll see baby turtles hatching and scuttling towards the sea.

Either way the sunrise from the beach makes some great photos.
