Photography in Bolivia

Surreal mountainous dreamscapes, colonial cities and indigenous cultures survive in a world above the clouds.

Introduction

For lovers of the epic landscape, one of our most spectacular destinations has to be Bolivia. There is no better place in which to recalibrate your sense of scale. Vast “white desert” salt flats, barren plains interrupted only by pink flamingos, the hulks of wrecked trains and the distant snow-capped volcanoes all providing stunning backdrops to your photos. After exploring the high Andes, there’s an optional extension to the jungle for those who want to continue the adventure.

What Makes This Trip Special?

The itinerary is designed to take in the best of this under-visited country. We'll tour colonial Sucre, Bolivia's most beautiful city and its symbolic heart. We'll experience a spooky underground culture in the mines of Potosi and then surface to photograph the mind-bending space of the largest salt flat in the world. Around the shores and islands of Lake Titicaca we'll visit the indigenous cultures of the Incas, whose traditions survive into the present day. And we'll finish in the world's highest capital city, exploring the eclectic markets and travelling high above the hustle and bustle by cable car.

Why Photograph Here?

We’ll access truly remote locations with out-of-this world scenery, as well as cities with a fascinating blend of Andean cultures and colonial architecture. At high altitude, the intense crisp quality of the light will give your pictures a look that’s unlike anything you can capture further down. In a like-minded group of snappers and with the help of our local guides, 4x4 vehicles and expert photography tutors, you’ll be in the perfect situation for some exceptional photos.
