Art Amble in Berlin, Germany

Anyone for a Bavarian feast followed by a spot of ballroom dancing and then perhaps a late night game of ping-pong with some locals…? Only on our Berlin Art Amble!

Frui’s new Art Ambles are short breaks designed to take you right to the creative heart and soul of a city and give you a unique experience not found in the pages of any guidebooks. With a focus on offering you a better understanding of contemporary visual art, as well as the opportunity to get well and truly stuck in to all the eccentric goings on – day and night – you’ll be sure to come home with a fresh pair of eyes and a good few stories to tell! And where better to launch our first Amble than in Europe’s most buzzing creative smorgasbord – Berlin.

During this 4-day break we’ll become fully immersed in Berlin’s vibrant art scene and all the other creative goings on: from a walking tour of the upmarket galleries found in central Berlin, to dinner with a chef turned artist who cooks lavish meals in response to artwork, to a cycling tour of all the weird and wonderful studios and underground artist run spaces in the surrounding districts.

Ideal for art lovers, photographers and those wishing to get to grips with contemporary art, this unique short break offers the chance to go way off the guidebook trail and right into the avant-garde heart of the city. In the company of a local curator and a Frui guide and tutor from the UK, we’ll critically engage with the work we see and discuss what we like, what we don’t like and what we’re down right offended by! But in typical Frui style, it will all be approached with a good sense of humour and fun (and wine), of course.

As well as this, for those who want to, there will be the chance to take part in an afternoon’s photography or drawing class in Berlin’s beautiful Treptow Park, in the centre of which is an abandoned theme park. With dinosaurs, Ferris wheels and roller coasters left to rust, this bizarre location is a unique place to practice our photography and sketching.

With a strong focus on embracing all the eccentricities that this city has to offer, make sure you pack an open mind and a sense of adventure on this holiday, as there’s always new and unexpected things to encounter in Berlin, so who knows where we might end up.
