Frui Founder & Director
James co-ordinates Frui’s photography and painting holidays and makes sure that on each holiday, the scenery is breathtaking, the food is mouthwatering and the accommodation is top notch.
A lover of travel, food, wine and art, a holiday with James will be all about living the good life!
Before becoming a full time Director of Frui, James was a painter, curator and tutor. After completing his BA in Fine Art and an MA in Fine Art Painting, James spent a number of years teaching art and photography at various higher education colleges. Passionate about promoting the arts, James has curated a number of acclaimed exhibitions at galleries such as the Candid Arts Centre, No More Grey and Gallery 44.Email James
Frui Founder & Painting Tutor
Frui Tutor Selwyn teaches on our Abruzzo, Kerala and Marrakech Painting holidays. He also hosts Frui’s super fun Drink & Draw events in London.
Described by past guests as ‘social lubricant’, sitting down to dinner with Selwyn will mean non-stop conversation and laughing!
Selwyn is a full time landscape painter with an MA in Fine Art from the Wimbledon School of Art. An experienced tutor and lecturer, Selwyn teaches fine art at diploma level.
UK Courses Manager
Kirsty manages Frui’s London, Bristol, Brighton and Leeds based photography courses, ensuring that they run smoothly and the customers (and tutors!) are all well looked after. She also co-ordinates Frui's marketing, administration and events.
Northern lassie Kirsty loves nothing more than exploring the Lake District fells on horseback, or enjoying a few Cosmo's with friends. A wine lover and good food connoisseur, you’ll see Kirsty at Frui’s Photography Socials where she’ll be getting the drinks in!
Kirsty has a BA degree in Advertising & Marketing Communications and has many years of marketing, business and administration experience under her belt.
Travel Photography Tutor
Meeting new people and visiting rarely trodden paths in exciting destinations inspire professional travel photographer Filip. He loves shooting social documentary, landscape and fine art projects, and is the perfect go-to for top photo tips.
Friendly, knowledgeable, professional and fun loving, Filip will go out of his way to ensure you get the most out of your holiday (and always have a glass of bubbly in your hand when you need it!)
Filip’s infectious passion for photography and travel has resulted in his work being exhibited and sold nationally and being featured in countless publications.
Travel Photography Tutor
Passionate about photography, travel and food, Simon is one of Frui’s London based photography tutors, and also teaches on our worldwide holidays.
Simon has taught literally hundreds of photography courses with Frui and loves inspiring budding snappers to get out there and be more creative with their cameras.
Simon has over 10 years photographic experience and a first-class honours degree in photography. He specialises in shooting in natural light.
Travel Painting Tutor
Painting expert Joe is Frui’s Painting Tutor on our worldwide holidays. Down-to-earth, enthusiastic and passionate, Joe is the perfect tutor for novice or advanced painters, alike.
Joe’s a figurative painter and his paintings have been shown both nationally and internationally. He works primarily in oil paint to create realistic images that utilise the conventions of cinematography to present 'staged', fictitious scenes where time has been stopped and extended.
Travel Painting Tutor
As one of Frui’s Painting Tutor’s, Rosa will teach you a thing or two about pencils, pastels and painting! Rosa’s teaches on our worldwide holidays, making sure our lovely customers go home with a brand new skill!
A graduate of Fine Art at Central St Martins, London, Rosa began teaching drawing and painting to children and adults in 2009, soon realising that it was something she really enjoyed doing.
James is Frui’s resident Brighton photography tutor, as well as one of Frui’s London tutors. One thing’s for sure, a photography course with James will change the way you see the world forever!
James has worked in the visual arts for the past 15 years, making large-scale installations using photography and original soundscapes. James has exhibited around Europe and the US and he is a visiting lecturer at various colleges and universities.
Loveable Cristina Simcea is quirky, cool and a dab hand at taking photos. Cristina applies her in-depth knowledge and creativity to teach budding snappers how to improve their pictures.
Cristina is a self-taught photographer who picked up her first camera, a Nikon D50 at the age of 18. Since then, she’s not stopped snapping, and her portfolio is full to the brim of creative, exciting and technically superior shots.
Bristol based Jimmy is an incredibly talented photographer who you’ll have great fun with! You’ll come away from Jimmy’s courses with a shedload of super snaps, and tons of new tips and techniques.
Jimmy completed his photographic training at Plymouth College of Art where he undertook a Photomedia and Design Communication degree; specialising in Photography.
